Excellent source for lens performance

A decent landscape photo equipment setup would be:
* A good 35mm camera body with internal meter, mirror lock-up and manual setting capability (Nikon or Canon)
* 24mm f2.8 prime lens
* 35mm f2.0 prime lens
* 50mm f1.8 or f1.4 prime lens
* 70-200mm f2.8 or f4.0 zoom lens (avoid 70-300 “consumer” zooms- they’re awful when you get to the long end of the telephoto range.
* 1.4X teleconvertor
* A good tripod with ball head (Bogen and Gitzo are good choices for tripod; Bogen and Arca-Swiss for the head)
* A good photo equipment backpack (Lowepro and Domke make some of the better stuff- I don’t care for Tamrac)
* A good compass
* A GPS unit. They have really come down in price, and at this point are extremely valuable when trying to mark a spot to come back to. Not a bad idea to have if you get lost also.
